Person Centred Counsellor
ELB Counselling Services
My name is Emma Brand and I am a qualified person centred counsellor and Registered Member MBACP. As part of my membership with the British Assosciation for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I adhere to their Ethical Framework to ensure I am working safely and in the best way for my clients.
I have a private practice which is based via online and telephone, having recently completed an Online and Telephone Counselling course.
I am passionate about working creatively and have experience working with diverse groups and communities including the Deaf Community and the LGBTQ+ Community. I have experience working with people with sensory impairments and understand the importance of communication, accessibility and individuality.
I am qualified in British Sign Language Level 3, and in my professional work have supported people with a dual sight and hearing loss. I attend regular Professional Development Training events which I can reflect on and bring into a session if appropriate, alongside other resources.
Looking for support and thinking about counselling can be daunting; but I hope from my website you can learn more about me and what I can offer you. I hope to empower you through listening to achieve balance, which is why I called myself ELB Counselling Services.
Person Centred Counselling
Some of the ways I have supported people includes:
Anxiety and depression
Loss or bereavement
Relationships and Sexuality
Family Relationships & Friendship Dynamics
Life changes and managing this
Feeling low in mood
Low self-esteem or confidence
Experiencing bullying and/or historical bullying
Understanding of the past and self
In my practice I commit to offering a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can feel comfortable to talk openly about how you are feeling. I am aware sometimes it can be hard to talk to someone you know as they may have an opinion or be involved.
I am not there to give answers or give advice but to listen and empower you to reflect on your emotions and feelings. My theory and learning from the Person-Centred Approach is that you are the expert in your life and you have the power within to make change.
Counselling is about working with you to understand yourself: including how you relate to yourself internally and how you relate to others around you externally. I will work at your pace and how you feel comfortable and I am not there to guide or direct the session. I am here to support you to find your own solutions and have a dedicated time to reflect on your feelings and emotions.
